Giving Back

At Elk Mountain Academy, we place a high value on community service, giving back to others, and developing a strong work ethic. Whether it’s splitting and stacking firewood, digging a trench, building a fence, moving food for the local food bank, walking dogs at the local animal shelter, woodworking, shoveling snow, yard cleanup, or serving as waiters at the semi-annual play at the local Heron Community Center, Elk Mountain students and staff can frequently be found on hand lending judi slot assistance. We endeavor to provide assistance to senior citizens, non-profit groups, local churches, and persons with disabilities. The nature of substance abuse is to be very self-focused and seeking to only meet our own needs, not to look out for the needs and well-being of others. Most people in general, and teenagers in particular, can easily slip into a self-centered mode of living, where little thought is given to those around them in their community, many of whom suffer from lack of assistance or ability to meet basic needs. Another key facet frequently lacking in today’s youth is that of a strong work ethic, which is so necessary for attaining and retaining a job or competing in today’s challenging workplace. It is for these reasons that we consider our involvement in community service, weekly work hours, and household chores to be an essential part of our student’s personal growth and recovery. Our intention and focus in this important area is to promote character-building and work ethic development in our students.
